PLN Batam distributes CNG among the insular populations of Indonesia by using Galileo’s technology

PLN Batam will supply Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) by ship to fuel the power generation plant of Bintan Island, in the Riau Islands Province of Indonesia.

The operation will be done from the Bantam Port and will take the gas from the mother station located in Panaran, Batam, Indonesia. It will be equipped by Galileo with four EMB® dispensers and two Microbox® MX4 compressors.

With a flow rate of 2 x 3200 Sm3/h, this mother station will daily fill 20 CNG tube skids that will allow for the replacement of the current power station’s fuel oil consumption, as well as a savings worth 5 million dollars per year in power generation.

In a later stage, PLN Batam plans to extend its CNG marine distribution system to Bangka Belitung Island and Fantasy Island (Manis Islands) at Riau Islands Province.
